Wireless Internet Access on Cruise Ship

While sailing on our transatlantic cruise on the Grandeur of the Seas, we had internet access through the ship's Wi-Fi access, although it wasn't cheap. We had the option of paying $0.65/minute or purchasing a pre-paid Internet package:

  • 60 Minutes..... $35 or $0.58/min
  • 100 Minutes....$55 or $0.55/min
  • 150 Minutes....$75 or $0.50/min
  • 250 Minutes....$100 or $0.40/min
  • 500 Minutes.....$150 or $0.30/min

The Grandeur WiFi Hot Spot Locations include

  • Viking Crown Lounge
  • Solarium
  • Windjammer Marketplace
  • Pool Area and open areas on top of ship
  • iCafe
  • Card Room/Library
  • Cafe Latte-tude
  • Schooner Bar
  • South Pacific Lounge
  • Open Promenade
  • Centrum

While on the ship we typically used the Wi-Fi in the Solarium or the Library. It worked well, but was slow - more like modem speed than high speed internet.

We also took advantage of Wi-Fi while in ports and regularly took our laptop with us when we left the ship so we could grab a drink and check email before we left port.
